From the Author of 'Nate Grisham'

In a fiercely contested Missouri, pro-Union and Confederate militias clash in bouts of guerrilla warfare and cross-border raids as they battle for control of the state. Disaffected confederate soldier Jim Light, joins up with the infamous Quantrill’s Raiders a mere two weeks before they attack and massacre the townsfolk of Lawrence, Kansas - a Union stronghold. When they finish, Kansas is truly "Bloody Kansas."

As the end of the War draws near, Jim deserts the Southern Army. With the assistance of a woman who's sympathetic to the lost cause, he tries to start a new life. The peace he yearns for quickly slips away after the burning of his farm and hanging of his good friend by Union forces. Jim joins up with ex-fellow raider Jesse James to seek revenge on the murderous Yankees. Riding with the James Gang, he robs banks, and stagecoaches, sees action in Northfield, Minnesota and even participates in the first train robbery in history.

The James Gang rode their way into legend, but for Jim Light will it all end along side his friend in a small white house, or will he somehow find a path back to the simple quiet life circumstance and war robbed him of?

Missouri in Flames edition by WR Benton Literature Fiction eBooks

I loved this book! Have always had an interest in Jesse James and this was a great read. My dad, his dad, and his dad were all Missouri boys so this gave me some Missouri history plus more information on the Civil war's effect on the people and their lives. What a terrifying time to live! The farmers, soldiers and James gang made this unique to me. Times were so hard on everyone. Characters were well developed and interesting. A wonderful read. I laughed and I cried. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. W.R. Benton is a very accomplished author and I will continue reading his books.

Missouri in Flames edition by WR Benton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It was good as a once reader. It didn't make me want to read a follow up book I bought it because I liked the first book I read by W.R. Benton. I do have another of his book War Paint yet to read and I will buy more books by him.
I have read several of Mr Benton's books and enjoyed all of them.
Simply put a time line of the civil war and Jessie James time . a fine tale am glad I read this book.
A great and a historical work of fact and fiction. A look into the lives of Quantrill and vicious men and the escapades of Jesse James and his scoundrels. Told in a most believable manner.. This is a great read and will be enjoyed by all western fans. So, Giddy Up."

Y'alls like a good tale told by America's best storytelling author you will love reading this book. I will read this book again and again. One good reason to have this book on my kindle it will always be up there in the cloud waiting for me to read it again and again, Buy this book now and enjoy a good story.
THIS IS NOT A REAL "SHOOT-UM-UP" WESTERN BOOK. IT IS RATHER A SOMEWHAT FICTIONAL HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR AND THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JESSE JAMES AND THE JAMES GANG. HOWEVER, THE TWO ARE WELL TIED TOGETHER, IN A VERY SMOOTH FLOW. THIS IS A WELL WRITTEN BOOK WITH MANY SURPRISES. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. IT HAS A WEALTH OF INFORMATION THAT I HAVE NEVER THOUGHT OF, ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR. MR. BENTON DID HIS HOME WORK ON THE CIVIL WAR AND THE SOUTHERN STATES. I WILL BE READING MORE OF HIS BOOKS. * I HOPE THIS REVIEW IS HELPFUL TO "WESTERN READERS".
A book you must read IF you want to read the reality of the CIVIL WAR from the point of view of the ordinary southerner. I grew up in MO. born in the Boot heel.

A must read if you want to read about the SOUTH and the civil war. You will experience the war from the poor farmers point of view. The cruelty of the union army .Met with the same from the residents of MO. I have been in or through most of the towns and places mentioned in this book. It points out the research done by the author. My hat goes off to Mr. Benton.
